For the last several months we've been studying the Kingdom of God on Sunday mornings during the worship service teaching time. We've come now to a convenient stopping point before moving on to studying the Kingdom parables Jesus told in the Gospel accounts. The plan is to begin studying those parables on the second Sunday of October.
In the meantime, we will be taking a few Sundays to focus on what I'm calling "core competencies" of practical Christian living. "Core competencies" are beliefs, practices, and skills central to living out our faith in the real world. They the beliefs, practices, and skills we can leverage to our practical advantage in a wide variety of contexts and situations.
Here's a look at the teaching schedule and the competencies we'll be covering over the next couple of months:
Aug 14 — A Christian's Life in the Word
Aug 21 — A Christian's Walk, Pt. 1 (Separating from Worldliness)
Aug 28 — A Christians Walk, Pt. 2 (Separating unto Holiness)
Sep 4 — A Christian's Witness
Sep 11 — Remembering and Responding to 9/11
Sep 18 — Stewardship of Treasures
Sep 25 — Stewardship of Talents
Oct 2 — Stewardship of Time
I invite you to check the blog on Saturday nights for the slides we will be using with each of these studies on Sunday. Pray with us for the Lord to use these studies to enrich our lives for His glory!
