Here's the chart on Luke 1-2 I mentioned in yesterday's study. Notice how similar the format is between the accounts of John the Baptist's and Jesus' conception, birth, circumcision, and childhood. Don't let the "differences" throw you. Bible writers often expanded some parts of one story or the other. The expansion is still considered part of the parallel to its counterpart. So, for example, in both the account about John and the one about Jesus, there is a section that refers specifically to the moment of the actual birth. However, more is said about the moment of Jesus' birth than John's. The "extra" information is designed to draw the reader's attention to the importance of those details.
